Wolf Spiders are usually brown or tan in color with a hairy body and two dark stripes on their tanned back. These spiders don’t create webs in your house because they are ground hunters. While they do eat some of the other pests, no one wants to see one scurry across their bedroom floor!

There are several reasons for their infestation. A common contributor is the changing environment in your backyard. For instance, if there is a lawn clutter, Wolf Spiders will be attracted to it. Similarly, if you leave really any items in your yard, be it play equipment or your BBQ, wolf spiders will use it as a place to hide from other predators.

Avoid leaving toys, wood piles, stacks of stored goods, old tires and especially construction material in your backyard. Sometimes, other bugs come hide inside these items which can attract wolf spiders as they feed off of them.

Similarly, moist locations also provide a favorable habitat to wolf spiders. These places are mostly shaded, which prevents them from drying out. Wolf Spiders love moist conditions, where they hunt their preys and drink from the puddles.

Black Widows

Black Widows are from the Latrodectus family of spiders. These might be one of the spookiest spiders you will find in your home. They have a shiny black body and a big red hourglass like mark on their underside. In North America, Black Widows are considered to be the most venomous spiders. Though their bites is rarely fatal to human beings, they can still require a trip to the hospital for treatment.

Female Widows are 1.5 inches long, whereas the males are half the size of females and lighter in color. Black Widows love hiding in dark and dry sheltered areas like your garage, basement, barns, rodent holes, trash and dense vegetation. These spiders eat other arachnids and insects that get caught in their webs.

While black widows feast on other pests in your house, but they can multiply quickly and spread all over your place. If you suspect them inside your house, don’t ignore them and call for help.

Ants are probably one of the most stubborn pests. Once a colony find their way into your home, they are extremely difficult to get rid of with do it yourself methods alone.

There are several reasons why ants enter your house, but most of the time they are simply searching for food. If a queen decides to setup her colony in your home, then be prepared to deal with hundreds, thousands and even millions of ants running around your kitchen and windowsills.

A few ants crawling here and there isn’t a sign of infestation, but if you spot a trail of ants going from a food source and inside a crack, that would be a clear indication of a big underlying problem.

Ants spread diseases and contaminate your foods and other household items. They pest are best handled by professionals. Unless the queen is exterminated, the colony will not leave your house.
